The Amazing Agregado Lifestream Theme for Wordpress

// September 29th, 2008 // 5 Comments » // Design, Design Resources, Featured, Free Website Templates, I recommend, Wordpress, Wordpress Themes, webdesign

Announcing the Beautiful Agregado Lifestream Theme. This is the best theme I’ve seen so far and I’ve tested out..I’d have to say close to 100 Wordpress themes over the past year. This theme has a lot of really unique features and qualities that I haven’t see in any of the other themes that I think people will really dig. I almost wish I could keep it a secret. haha!

But I can’t.. so here it is…

Download The Agregado Lifestream Theme | View the Demo

Designed by Darren Hoyt and Matt Dawson of Category4, commissioned by the folks at Smashing Magazine. It features a built-in lifestream module and contact form with custom control panel options.

Lifestream gives you the ability to stream your social networking feeds such as Twitter, Flickr and Delicious in your sidebar. You can view my website’s main page for an example of how that works.

Built into the Agregado admin interface you can add your Flickr, Twitter, Delicious, Magnolia, Pownce, Last.fm, Facebook and Goodread usernames for the Lifestream sidebar.
It also gives you room to add up to 4 other rss feeds to the Lifestream.

I’ve added my FriendsFeed RSS feed because that includes my digg, youtube and others that don’t seem to have an RSS address well at least that I could find. Since you can only add an RSS feed address to the Lifestream. Unless I’m missing something.. let me know.
Anyway, the theme has a lot of good stuff. So, download it and test it out yourself. I’m currently using it and I plan on customizing it a bit but it really was perfect out of the box. I must give mad props to the designers. They did an amazing job with this theme.

Speak up and give me some comment love. I swear I get up to a thousand hits a day on this website but I’ll be lucky to get one comment a week. haha! That’s pretty pathetic I know. I must be pretty damn boring. No one wants to talk to me. :(
Show the girl some love will ya? I feel a little desperate here.. begging for comments and all but geez. I love to interact but that’s pretty hard all by myself. Well..actually I take that back…..

Dezinerfolio 2.0 by Dezinerfolio

The demo link doesn’t work on Dezinerfolio’s site so you’ll have to download it to view it -but it’s worth it.

This theme won’t work straight out of the box because of the required plugins, but it’s not really a problem because the author includes all the necessary plugins with the download. All you need to do if you aren’t using the plugin yet is to upload and activate. IMO, this can be an issue for some users and make them back away from this theme but if you have some skills you might like this theme.

Charade by Css Rock Stars

I really liked this theme and thought about using it on my blog but I couldn’t get the twitter box to work which made me change my mind but if you can get it to work then this them rocks. I know it’s not a black or grey theme but Hey oh well I wanted to feature it anyway. The demo link doesn’t seem to work on the site so you have to view a demo my blog using it below. Read the readme.txt file that’s included in the download to configure the social networking buttons on the top, it’s easy.

Dark Classic by Askgraphics.com

I’ve used this theme on my blog so I know it works great only problem I found was if you list too many tags it they start to drop off past the background graphic and that bugged me but if you don’t usually list a ton of tags like I seem too then it won’t be an issue and you might just love this theme. Try it.

This is a dark theme for the girls ..CSS creme also offers winter, summer and fall versions of this theme. I’ve used this theme on my blog and it looked great. You can easily customize the background graphics by just replacing the background url in the style sheet. It has really nice graphics included for rss, bullets and title headings.

FlockStar!

// August 17th, 2008 // Comments Off // Applications, Browsers, For Geeks, Freeware, Geeks, I recommend, Ibdreamy, Social Network, Update, Useful, web tools

Flock is so bad ass..It seems I find a new feature on Flock everyday that makes me go “WOW that’s cool”.

_ For example I took this screen shot with Flocks built in screenshot tool that allows you to select clips and snap away.

_ It has a built in Blog editor so I can post to my blog using my browser

_A drag and drop web clipboard manager

_Media bar that streams media from sites like Flickr, Digg, Youtube, your Facebook friends

_A sidebar with all your updated feeds and social networking sites

_side bar listing all your accounts and services that you can click on an automatically be logged into

So if you haven’t tried it yet..dammit try it! I still use Firefox and I probably always will but I love me some Flock now and then.. it’s like my secret little drug…well maybe not that dramatic no..but it’s damn good? I love their My world page it shows me all my updates from my social networking sites. It’s nifty. (see screenshot)

Twitter App Crazy

// August 15th, 2008 // 4 Comments » // Apple, Applications, Blogging, Chat, Desktop Icons, For Geeks, Freeware, Geeks, Graphics, I recommend, Icons, Ipod, Twitter, Useful, web tools

Here are some of the most popular Twitter apps and tools. I love my twitter. I like twitter because I can keep in touch with all my friends and family all at once and I don’t have to send out 10 text messages a day, I can send out one or two twitter posts and I’m good to go. :) Everyone who says I never call them or write them has now heard from me and everyone is happy…including me. I Love it. Here’s a whole list of Mobile Twitter apps..@ Mashable.com

h1 Twit Bin

Why go to Twitter when Twitter can come to you? Twitbin’s a Firefox extension that nestles all your friends’ tweets into a sidebar. It’s configurable too, and the tiny ad at the bottom of the sidebar is something I can live with. BTW, it works just as well in Flock.

h1 TwittyTunes

If you want to share what you’re listening to with the ease of Twitter, this is the browser plugin for you. It’s a sibling of the popular FoxyTunes extension, and supports dozens of players. So if you’re signed in to your Last.fm player, Twitty Tunes will let your Twitter friends know what you’re listening to. There’s even a social network devoted to the most recent TwittyTunes shout-outs, called Foxy Tunes Twitter DJ.

h1 Twitterment

This one appeals to the statisticians and the buzz crawlers. This charts the ‘zeitgeist’ of what’s being Tweeted about across the globe. You can even see comparisons of one key phrase versus another, and what day of the week key terms pop up most frequently. For instance, here’s one that compares beer and sex. Not surprisingly, beer starts getting popular around Friday.

h1 Flotzam

Flotzam started life as Flitterbook, a showcase mash-up of Flickr, Facebook and Twitter data – developed by Karsten Januszewski and Tim Aidlin for MIX07. It’s available only to PC users as a downloadable .exe or as a screensaver, but it’s well worth having a nose around. For Mac OS X users, check out some of the dashboard widgets collected in the Twitter Fan Wiki.

h1 GPS Twit – update Twitter with your location for iPhone and Windows Mobile.

h1 Twitter-Sync (Yahoo Messenger Plugin) – Keeps your Yahoo! Messenger status and Twitter in synchronization. Update your Yahoo! Status to create a new tweet. Your new tweets update your Yahoo! status. Also keeps track of your twitter friends from the main messenger window with alerts, pop-ups + more…

h1 Twit4Live — A Messenger Plus! Live Script that adds twitter interaction to Windows Live Messenger

h1 Twitter Desktop – A How-To for making TwitterVision your desktop background, watch live tweets while working.(not an app)

h1 MadTwitter — a clon of Twitterrific for Windows which doesn’t require .NET — by Sacha Fuentes

Top 5 Desktop Apps

    Top 5 Mobile Apps
