Imogen Heap – Hide And Seek w/ Lyrics

// February 3rd, 2010 // No Comments » // Blogging, I recommend, Music, Videos

Hide and Seek” is the first single by Imogen Heap from her album Speak for Yourself. The song is performed with the sole accompaniment being the sound produced by a harmonizer (a DigiTech Vocalist Workstation), creating an altered a cappella sound.

This song has an Interesting History.. More then one person has found some success with this cool song..

I first hear the Jason DeRulo’s 2009 single “Whatcha Say” version which prominently samples Imogen Heap’s song so I googled the Imogen version and now I even like her version better so if you havn’t hear it yet I highly recommend you listen to it and then tell me which one you like better… :)
The single topped the Billboard Hot 100. Heap is credited for the single.

Jason DeRulo’s 2009 single “Whatcha Say” prominently sampled Heap’s song. The single topped the Billboard Hot 100. Heap is credited for the single.

The track samples the Imogen Heap song “Hide And Seek”. In late August 2009, the song debuted at #54 on the Billboard Hot 100 and hit #1 in November of 2009.

The single’s music video was released in September 2009; after the single became successful, Derülo began work on his debut album.

The single was certified gold by the RIAA on April 3, 2009.

The song was featured prominently in the second season finale of The O.C.. This was parodied in a 2007 Saturday Night Live Digital Short called The Shooting. In the short, characters cut each other’s sentences off by pulling out guns and shooting each other as the refrain plays over their slow-motion deaths. NBC was unable to upload the clip to YouTube immediately after the show because it hadn’t cleared the song, but fans uploaded it on their own, naming it “Dear Sister”. It became an Internet phenomenon, spawning a number of parodies in which scenes of real and fictional violence are punctuated with the refrain.

Heap arranged an alternate version of the song, labeled “Hide and Seek 2″, for the compilation album Songs for Tibet — The Art of Peace.

The song was also used in the films The Last Kiss and Warren Miller’s Off the Grid. It has also been featured in the series So You Think You Can Dance, Smith, The L Word, The Real World: Sydney, and CSI: Miami. The song has appeared in promotional spots for the television series Lost, Heroes, and the Norwegian version of Survivor.

The single was certified gold by the RIAA on April 3, 2009.

Imogen Heap – Hide And Seek Lyrics

Where are we?
What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to fall
Crop circles in the carpet
Sinking feeling

Spin me around again and rub my eyes
This can’t be happening
When busy streets a mess with people
Would stop to hold their heads heavy

Hide and seek
Trains and sewing machines
All those years
They were here first

Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity
Of this still life

Hide and seek
Trains and sewing machines
Blood and tears
They were here first

Mm what’cha say?
Mm, that you only meant well
Well of course you did

Mm what’cha say?
Mm that it’s all for the best
Of course it is

Mm what’cha say?
Mm that it’s just what we need
You decided this?

Mm what’cha say?
Mm what did you say?

Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
Mid-sweet-talk newspaper word cutouts (paper word cutouts)
Speak no feeling; no, I don’t believe you
You don’t care a bit
You don’t care a bit

New Social Networking Icon Sets Galore!

Two cool new sites offering new social networking icon sets. It’s always nice to see new sets and I’m always looking so if you know of one I have not posted please let me know or if you’ve designed one and you’d like to be featured – Let me know!

http://icons.mysitemyway.com/

WebTreats

Both sites were designed using.. My Site My Way which is something new to me..what I found strange instead of them having their own domain names they use a subdomain – for example: icons.mysitemyway.com must be great for mysitemyway’s search engine results! However..If I were the webmaster for one of these web sites above, I would nix using the mysitemyway’s subdomain and definitely register my own domain name. Because I’d want my ranking, seo etc.. to go towards my web site not my web hosts. Plus I never recommend sub domains. Use a .com and point to your main index so that people can type your domain name directly into their browsers and show up where they need to go without having to remember a long sub domain address.

my site my way

Random and possibly use-ful or use-less information…

Understanding Sub-Domains and Sub Directory and how it effects SEO

“blog.domain.com” is a subdomain while “domain.com/blog” is a subdirectory or a folder within a domain.

A sub domain creates more separation than just a sub directory or a folder, since a subdomain is basically creating a stand alone site that could easily be it’s own domain. However, you may want to piggyback on the main domain name. For example, google.com is the main site. Gmail actually lives at mail.google.com.

WPWebHost.com Review – Best Hosting for Wordpress!

// October 5th, 2009 // 3 Comments » // Blogging, Cool Links, Cool Websites, Featured, For Geeks, Hosting, I recommend, News, Useful, Wordpress, webmaster, wordpress tutorials

Good web hosting is one of the most important things that is overlooked by newbie bloggers. I know this because I made this mistake myself. Well, actually, by a stroke of luck, I turned out alright. Before I bought a yearly plan from my current web host, I hadn’t done any research into other providers at all. Six months later I now see that I could have saved money here and there for the same amount of services from other hosting companies, one of them being WPWebhost.com.

Now moving my website from one host to another isn’t easy. I just wish I would of thought of these things when I started my website. That’s why I’m here to point you in the right direction.

Does your web hosting company have a “face”? Do you know who the owners are? How good is your customer service at your current provider? WPWebhost.com is unique in that it’s unlike all the normal hosts out there. Instead of just being a static website with the only purpose being to sell you their services, WPWebhost.com a reliable hosting provider and a regularly-updated blog slapped into one.

WPWebHost

Specifications and Pricing

WPWebHost.com is one of the best web hosting providers that I’ve ever seen in terms of price. One of their simplest plans are as follows:

  • 50GB of web space
  • 500GB of monthly bandwidth
  • Host up to 50 domain names
  • WordPress-compatible server
  • WordPress-savvy support team
  • Only $5 a month ($60 a year!)

And here’s a list of their monthly, yearly, and bi-yearly plans:

  • Monthly Fee: $8/month
  • Annual Fee: $6.67/month ($80/year)
  • Bi-annual Fee: $5/month ($120/2 years) Best Value

One of the greatest things about WPWebhost.com is that they offer you a 100-day money-back guarantee! If you decide you don’t like their service for whatever reason after 3 months, you can get your money back and move on no strings attached! And in case you didn’t know, WPWebHost.com is built specifically to host Wordpress blogs and run them at their highest potential in terms of speed. Also, another unique feature that I’ve seen only with these guys is that when you sign up for any plan under them, you automatically receive a free copy of their premium Wordpress theme “Western”.

A gallery will display a set of thumbnail images attached to that post or page. If you upload images using the Add an Image icon, they will get attached automatically. If you upload images using the media library, you will need to attach it to a post or page before it will appear in a gallery.

16 New FREE Magazine Style Wordpress Themes

// August 7th, 2009 // 9 Comments » // Blogging, Design, Design Resources, For Geeks, Magazine Theme, Wordpress Themes, Wp Themes, webdesign, webmaster

I did a search tonight for some new Magazine styles Wordpress Themes and I found some really nice ones especially the wpjunction.com themes. Good Stuff! Problem with those is I really had to search to find the download files since the main website is currently under construction and isn’t listing the download files on the website just links to the demo sites. It’s possible he plans on removing them so I’d download them now. Better safe then sorry. I’ve seen this happen before where a designer will offer their themes for free and then change their mind and start selling them as premium themes. Anyway, I’ve posted 14 of them in this post. Enjoy and comment! Digg the post!

How to turn off post revision in wordpress and decrease database size.

// August 6th, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Blogging, Code, Design, For Geeks, Geeks, Wordpress, Wordpress Themes, wordpress tutorials

How to turn off post revision in wordpress and decrease database size.

delete_remove_turn_off_wordpress_post_revisionRevisions posts feature was introduced in wordpress 2.6 this feature turned on by default in 2.6+ versions. Revision posts create a lot of extra entries into your database and causes of database growing at very high speed.

So if you are worry about the size of your database or you don’t need hundreds or thousands of revisions posts in you database.

Here is the solution.

Open your wp-config.php into a text editor and add following lines into it.

define(’AUTOSAVE_INTERVAL’, 500 ); // seconds
define(’WP_POST_REVISIONS’, false );

This will increase the auto save time from 60 seconds to 500 seconds
and you will not get auto saved posts.

And if you want to delete already created revision posts from your database than go to your hosting control panel and open

PHPMyAdmin and run this SQL-query:

DELETE FROM wp_posts WHERE post_type = “revision”;

If you don’t want to edit your database there is a plugin Revision Control available for you.

Don’t Miss Out on Local SEO Opportunities

// July 21st, 2009 // 2 Comments » // Affiliate Networking, Blogging, Code, Design, Featured, For Geeks, Geeks, SEO, Tutorial, free

Don’t Miss Out on Local SEO Opportunities

Local search engine optimization is a great way to charge up your search rankings. It’s a faster method for making sure you’re on the right track, and if optimized properly you can really take advantage of some targeted traffic that will only help your business in the future.

It doesn’t matter if you’re developing websites for a mom and pop local plumber or a multi-million dollar agency that will have thousands of dynamic pages, the same 13 steps to on-site SEO will need to be applied to each.

How to Write Blog Posts to Increase Search Engine Traffic – Here’s an easy formula to follow:

  • In your blog, write a post with keyword A in your title something catchy, more info on that over here at seomoz or copyblogger
  • Write in-depth and informative content related to keyword A
  • Target keyword A in a link from your post to page2.html
  • When appropriate, link out to other authorities that can offer more information about your keyword topic (Use this tip with caution. While you are trying to give the user more info and get the attention of the other site – thus possibly getting a link back to your site – you should try to strike a balance so that the effectiveness of your post is maximized without excessive links out from your site)
  • Remember to vary the way you link keyword A to page2.html (did you target long-tail keywords? Those are very easy to alter)
  • Repeat this process on each post for all pertinent keywords throughout your site

The nice thing about this formula is that you actually tackle quite a few of the common marketing questions that challenge many business owners.
