When I started really getting into the whole online social thing it all began with Live Journal and a community I started called Dreamyicons. We held icon contests based on themes. Now the community is just members posting icons that they’ve created..no more contests. So you’ll notice a lot of the icons have themes and you’ll also notice a lot of adult themed icons. I love pin-up art so.. I hope your eyes are not offended by sexy chicks.

Remembering Demri and Layne...

NEW PICTURES! I posted some new pictures of Demri that were sent to me recently. Amazing! Plus all new pictures in the future will be posted on the new website as well so please leave your comments there in the future. Thank you!

Demri Lara Parrot was a beautiful woman and most people who will come here looking for information will come because they know her as Layne Staley’s girlfriend or because they knew her and are curious what they’ll find online about her. Well, unfortunately there’s not a lot of information online about Demri. Very few people have posted pictures and even fewer of her friends have come forward to talk about her. Why? I’m not sure. Maybe they think it’s rude to write about her online..  I don’t share that opinion.

She was my friend and people who love Layne and his music are interested in who she was and I think she’d think that was cool. I also know that she would like it if someone she knew posted her pictures and talked about who she was. Demri was incredible and she deserves to be remembered.

Demri passed away Oct. 29, 1996 and those who knew her.. miss her. I think about her often.

I’m dedicating this page to Demri and Layne and their love, life and friendship.

I hope people enjoy the pictures and leave a comment.

Old school pic…

I was just going through some old pictures in my Fotki albums and I found this picture of Demri and Layne..I love this picture. I miss them. This was a picture that Demri’s Mom gave me at Demri’s funeral. It was just a photo copy. I hung it on my wall and took a picture of it so that’s why it looks weird it’s hanging on my wall. This was taken at RockCndy in Seatlle during an Aids benefit..around 1992. This was during the good old days before everything fell to shit and they turned into sad reflections of their former selves….and then passed away. Demri in 1996 and Layne in 2002. Rest in Peace my sweet friends.

WTF is up with the Gas prices?

The gas prices have just gone crazy over the past month. At..fuelgaugereport.com you can view all this information by state which is pretty cool.

It took a whole year for the prices to go up 20 cents. It took only one month for them to go up another 20 cents. WTF?

Gas prices are killing me…

I’m just sitting here as usual working on my blog, reading stuff online..blah.

My kids went to visit my Mom in Olympia over the weekend and she took all three of them to the Space Needle in Seattle. I was supposed to go too but me and Roy were fighting over money…as usual.
It would of cost like 80 bucks to go there and back.
I swear I hate money or actually I hate being broke. It seems every time we get paid we’re broke again like 4 days later. No joke!
Even with my new job I’m not making much more then I was before and that makes me sad but I’m much happier at my new job. I guess that matters. Gas is just insane right now!
I can’t believe people are not complaining more about it. I thought my smoking habit was expensive but my gas habit is way worse.

That is insanity!! I remember and this was not very long ago when gas was still a buck a gallon. Remember? Haha! Maybe not but seriously it was like 7 years ago. So me and Roy stayed home and watched movies. I slept most of the day..making up for all the time I don’t get to sleep during the week. I get up so early to get to work and I’m just a night owl there’s nothing I can do to break that habit believe me I’ve tried so I get very little sleep.

I’ve been car pooling with my co-worker Chris and we really suck at getting going in enough time to take the max (train) into to Portland so we end up driving in. It costs 12 bucks a day to park downtown Portland so we’ve been spliting the cost. We really need to get going earlier so we can take the Max but it’s really not that much cheaper. The Max cost 2 bucks there and 2 bucks back.

Anyway..don’t mean to be a big drag but money and gas and life just kinda sucks right now.

Just a Hard Working Girl

Well.. I thought I’d give ya’ll an update on the new job and how things are going so far. It’s been 3 whole weeks since I started and it’s been awesome so far. The company is a young growing company with a lot of potential. The owner is 32 years young and incredibly involved and smart. My co-workers have all been helpful and friendly and I don’t feel out of place or uncomfortable being the new girl like I was worried about.
In fact one of my co-workers from my old job jumped ship and got hired at my new job too. He just started this week and it’s been very cool to have someone I know and work well with there with me.
Being in a new environment and having someone who I know and who knows me is nice.
The tech support department is small and close knit which is how I like it. Communication and team work between the departments is awesome and so key when your working with technology because things change from minute to minute it helps when everyone is clued into what’s going on in each department. I can’t say enough about my new company it’s just flipping awesome.
I’m pretty much just doing the same thing I was doing before…so far mostly just Outlook setups and email troubleshooting but I’m learning a whole lot more as well. The company I work for is called Smarsh and it’s an email archiving/email hosting company for the financial industry so there is this whole archiving piece that I’m learning about which is very interesting.

So far so good. I’m happy where I’m at.

Blogging..my rock star life..

I hardly blog anymore …for a long time I blogged about everything I did, saw, heard and felt..but lately I feel like I don’t have anything remotely interesting to say. Wow that sucks.

My life is pretty boring now. I go to work, I come home and I take care of my family. We do things together of course but nothing that people would want to read about. I’m sure my trip to the park or whatever is not something the general public could give two cents about. I know this because I don’t want to read other peoples posts about their boring ass crap either.

Lately I just post stuff that I’ve found online that I think is cool, funny or that I think might be useful to people.

I don’t have a rock star lifestyle but I’m no Auntie M either..I’ve had my fair share of the rock star lifestyle. In the early 90’s I was living in Seattle and I dated one of the guys in Alice in Chains, Mike Starr.

I spent most of my 20’s hanging around people in the music industry and/or people trying to get into the music industry. I’m the farthest thing from a groupie so don’t even go there. I just happen to live in Seattle at the time it was popping off like crazy and I happen to meet some of the people who were in the middle of it all. I was close friends with Layne Staley and his girlfriend Demri for years.

Demri passed away at 27 when her abusive lifestyle.. god she was so beautiful and talented…and I cried again 6 years later when Layne passed away from his broken heart and spirit.

My life is completely different now that I’ve had my kids and all that I have left from my rock star lifestyle is a Platinum album that’s framed and hanging on my wall. It was presented to me by Alice in Chains and has my name on it which is pretty bad ass. It’s one of my prized possessions and a nice reminder of the good times.

My son is turning 11 this month so it’s been years since I was hanging out backstage except for maybe backstage at my kids Winter Recital. My life has gone in such radically different directions since then.

I have 3 beautiful kids and an awesome man and we’re both concentrated on our careers and trying to make it or at least not be broke. We want more from life then we have now and we know the only way to get there is to work hard.

I recently started a new job doing tech support for an email hosting company and I really like it so far it’s a great young company that seems to have their game going on. I just moved over there after working a year at a well known web-hosting company doing tech support for them. It was great learning experience, I learned more in a year then I ever thought possible.

So..for now I’m just working hard trying to buy that dream house. I don’t regret giving up my rockstar lifestyle for the Mommy track. Memories are still good.

Emma Russack is a young singer-songwriter from Australia whose acoustic covers have become a sensation on YouTube. She has also performed several original songs, and is the leader singer of the Aussie band Lola Flash.
