So, they finally came out with a Diva Geek Barbie.. ok so maybe that’s not her REAL title but it should be!

According to a release from Mattel, the unveiling of Computer Engineer Barbie–she’ll hit stores this fall–coincides with “a year-long, global brand initiative to inspire girls of all ages

Earlier on Friday, toymaker Mattel announced the results of an online contest to name the profession that the latest edition of Barbie dolls would have, and ultimately two were named: alongside “News Anchor” was the popular-vote winner, “Computer Engineer Barbie.” Yes, she has a Bluetooth headset, a pink laptop, a smartphone, and hot-pink glasses. Can you freaking believe that it took til to the year 2010!!!for Mattel to come up with a Barbie in the technical industry? Meanwhile in the “real” world computers effect the daily life of almost every human in every generations and has had a HUGE socioeconomic effect on our country and our earth in general. But Barbie is just now considering a career in computer engineering?? LOL Hilarious.
How many Ballerina Barbie’s have you seen? Too many! Bride Barbie? Are you kidding me? That’s what they came up with?
By the way..I don’t know any computer engineers that look like this or would wear that but to be honest I’ve only personally met a very small handful of women in the industry but they’ve all been hip dressers and very cool but far from blonde bombshells. We usually the only girl in the room so it’s not in our best interest to play up the sex pot thing.
I really wish there were more women in our industry.  Hmmm.. maybe I’ll start blaming Mattel for that? Maybe there wasn’t enough geeky Barbie’s for my generation of women? Maybe this new Barbie will change all that!! Haha! Yeh right. Women from my generation (from my experiance) either don’t get why I’d be interested in technology or they think I do stuff straight of the Matrix and it’s all just way to complicated for them.

I don’t have the answer or care to much “about the meaning of it all”.. I just think it’s kinda cool – a Diva Geek Barbie!

This website is pretty damn cool and I recommend people check it out. You can even upload your own documents and connect it to your adsense account so when people read your documents you can make money with adsense. Sweet!

When I started really getting into the whole online social thing it all began with Live Journal and a community I started called Dreamyicons. We held icon contests based on themes. Now the community is just members posting icons that they’ve created..no more contests. So you’ll notice a lot of the icons have themes and you’ll also notice a lot of adult themed icons. I love pin-up art so.. I hope your eyes are not offended by sexy chicks.

**Back Story**
Apparently, she wanted to make the hallway appear that it had snow in it, so she decided to use a fire extinguisher (this is something that her dad has successfully done in the past). Instead of there just being a “little poof”, the entire hallway filled with chemicals that caused the fire alarm to go off in the middle of the night during finals week.

Now this is her in the car upset that everyone at Alpha Chi (the sorority she wants to be in and presumably those who live where the fire alarm went off) hates her. She explains how she isn’t a bad person and it was just an accident.

You really need to check out Soup.io if you haven’t already. I just found it tonight and thought I had stepped into heaven.

Ok well, maybe it wasn’t that dramatic but it’s pretty damn cool. You can stream all your social networking sites into one page like all your digg submissions, delicious, twitter, live journal posts, flickr, youtube, last.fm and any rss feed so it’s sweet as hell. I know there are other sites that do this but not like this..

Here’s a picture of Me and couple of my friends at one of those old time photobooths in Portland. We were at this bar/arcade called Ground Kontrol and they have all the old school arcade games, like Galaga, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong & Space Invaders.. so it was pretty cool.

In the first picture I was trying to smile but Annie was cracking me up, she makes great funny faces. Oh yeah..that’s me in the middle.

Has your kid ever made you feel old? Yah? Don’t lie. Anyway there’s this game you may of heard of called Guitar hero…well I suck at it and I mean bad. It’s got to be funny as hell watching me just trying to play it. I just can not think that fast or I can think that fast but my fingers will not compute what I’m seeing. So lame. Looks like a fun game too bad I can’t compute.
My son however kicked that games ass. He beat the whole game in two days and we’ve only had it a little over a week. He looks like he’s actually playing the guitar when he’s playing..it’s pretty cute. He’s 11..aww my rock star son. So, I don’t get to be cool gaming mama but that’s ok. I get to be proud gaming mama instead on this one at least. Give me any of the Final Fantasy games or any RPG for that matter and he’s asking me questions so it’s even I guess. He rocks at hand eye and I’m just magical! :X

Last.fm – is another Web 2.0 veteran and is more socially-slanted than the others. Tagging is a big part of the last.fm experience and you can tag any song that comes along in addition to being able to listen to “user tag radio” which is based on tracks that users have tagged with a specific genera. last.fm has a separate desktop application that “scrobbles” the songs you listen to and generates a music profile that you can share with friends.

The Hype Machine – follows music blog discussion. Every day, hundreds of people around the world write about music they love. Then it all ends up here. Hype Radio is Internet radio that is powered by blogs. All the tracks that end up in the stream are songs recently mentioned by bloggers listed on the Hype Machine. It’s radio that’s truly powered by the Internet.

Pandora – is the granddaddy of the bunch and it’s one of the Web 2.0 applications that I can’t live without. It is built using OpenLaszlo and provides the cleanest experience out of all the applications on the list. Pandora uses the Music Genome Project to generate a stream of songs that you’ll like based on how you rate previous tracks. You create stations around artists, songs or albums and you can provide feedback (thumbs up or thumbs down) on the songs Pandora chooses.
