Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son..

// August 31st, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Celebrity, Celebrity Kids, Celebrity Pictures, Rest in Peace

More sad news and death in Hollywood..

Dr. Dre’s 20-year-old son Andre Young Jr. was found dead Saturday morning at his mother’s house, according to People:

Andre Young Jr., 20, was discovered “unresponsive” by his mother at his home in Woodland Hills, Calif., on Saturday morning, according to the L.A. County Coroner’s office.
“Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son,” his rep Lori Earl says in a statement. “Please respect his family’s grief and privacy at this time.”

Young’s mother told police that she attempted to rouse her son at 10:24 a.m. on Saturday, and when she couldn’t, she called paramedics. They pronounced him dead at the scene.

An autopsy was performed yesterday morning but the cause of death is still pending on a toxicology report. Police say Andre was out with friends and didn’t return home until 5:30 a.m. the morning of his death.

George Carlin – 1937-2008

// August 31st, 2008 // No Comments » // Celebrity, Celebrity Pictures, Funny, Pictures, Rest in Peace, Videos

I had no idea that George Carlin passed away. I just found out tonight. I loved him and I thought he had an amazing mind and a huge vocabulary. Yes, he liked to cuss but cussing seems to get people’s attention…not sure why but that is a fact. I remember the first time I ever saw George Carlin’s stand up was the one he did about the 7 cuss words that can not be said on TV. I laughed my ass off and I was probably only 10 at the time..Haha! But I got it and I still get it. People seem to get their panties in a wade over the stupidest things including words when there are a lot more important things in this life.
I’m sad to see such amazing man pass on. Rest in peace George you will be missed.

“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that”.

Free Pixel Fonts & Where to find them

// August 30th, 2008 // 1 Comment » // Blogging, Design, Design Resources, Fonts, For Geeks, Graphic Design, I recommend, The Best of.., Useful, web tools, webdesign, webmaster

I don’t use pixel fonts very often but when I do I always have only a few to pick from. I needed to use one recently and I needed to find some new ones to add to my limited collection. This is what I found..enjoy! If you know of some that I didn’t list here feel free to add them in a comment.

Pixel Fonts — Free Font Sites

  • DaFont.com
DaFont.com has some great free pixel fonts.
Just do a search (top right of screen) for “pixel” to find them. I like Snoot.org px10 by Divide by Zero.
  • Wanted Fonts
Lots of free fonts. On left side navigation you’ll see categories.
Look for “pixilated” and search through the collection.
    “Endless Showroom” looks nice.
  • 04
On the front page click on “extra” and then
you’ll see “bitmap font” and “font ps.tt” – which are free downloads.
This is a very nice collection of pixel fonts.
  • HighFonts.com
Another nice site with a great collection of
    free fonts you can download.
  • Bestflashanimationsite.com
One of the better collections of pixel fonts I’ve found.
Plus they have a ton of other resources for designers.
  • Silkscreen – Free Pixel Font
Silkscreen is a free four member type family for your Web graphics
created by Jason Kottke. Available in both Mac and Windows versions.

How To Install & Remove Fonts In Windows
This font installation guide will tell you everything you need to know.

18 of the Hottest Music Sites Online

// August 29th, 2008 // 5 Comments » // Ibdreamy

Here is a list of 18 of the hottest music sites and social networking music sites online right now. I hope you find it useful. It took me forever to put together..but I found some really cool website’s in the process. Enjoy!

Last.fm
– is another Web 2.0 veteran and is more socially-slanted than the others. Tagging is a big part of the last.fm experience and you can tag any song that comes along in addition to being able to listen to “user tag radio” which is based on tracks that users have tagged with a specific genera. last.fm has a separate desktop application that “scrobbles” the songs you listen to and generates a music profile that you can share with friends.

The Hype Machine – follows music blog discussion. Every day, hundreds of people around the world write about music they love. Then it all ends up here. Hype Radio is Internet radio that is powered by blogs. All the tracks that end up in the stream are songs recently mentioned by bloggers listed on the Hype Machine. It’s radio that’s truly powered by the Internet.

Pandora – is the granddaddy of the bunch and it’s one of the Web 2.0 applications that I can’t live without. It is built using OpenLaszlo and provides the cleanest experience out of all the applications on the list. Pandora uses the Music Genome Project to generate a stream of songs that you’ll like based on how you rate previous tracks. You create stations around artists, songs or albums and you can provide feedback (thumbs up or thumbs down) on the songs Pandora chooses.

One Bored Gamer Girl – Star Wars 2008

// August 20th, 2008 // 2 Comments » // For Geeks, Gaming, Geeks, I recommend, Ibdreamy, Ipod, PS3, Pictures, Videos, Xbox

I’m so bored with the video game selection that’s out right now. I’ve either played it or I don’t want to play it. My all time favorite games are , Silent Hill , , , (wallpaper), Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion…etc.

Basically think of any good fantasy-based, role-playing adventure game and I’ve played it. Has anyone played Dark Sector yet? I’m just curious if it’s any good..I haven’t heard much about it yet but it’s one of the last games at Blockbuster for PS3 that I haven’t rented yet..they have a crappy selection but their actually getting a tad better lately. Lame thing is they got rid of all their older games so if I wanted to rent Silent Hill 2 or SSX Tricky..I couldn’t..Blockbuster won’t carry older games anymore.
Anyway, there are a few games that are coming out soon that I’m excited about..

Silent Hill: Homecoming marks the sixth story in the Silent Hill mythos, and introduces a new protagonist to the mysterious town. The story follows Alex Shepherd, returning to his hometown of Shepherd’s Glen to investigate the sudden disappearance of his brother and the strange occurrences taking place around town. Shepherd unravels a tale that takes him from his boyhood home to the fog-shrouded streets of Silent Hill, facing the darkest horrors of his soul to find his missing brother.

OMG! Creepy as hell! The sound effects in Silent Hill have always creeped me out big time. I can’t play in the dark.

FlockStar!

// August 17th, 2008 // Comments Off // Applications, Browsers, For Geeks, Freeware, Geeks, I recommend, Ibdreamy, Social Network, Update, Useful, web tools

Flock is so bad ass..It seems I find a new feature on Flock everyday that makes me go “WOW that’s cool”.

_ For example I took this screen shot with Flocks built in screenshot tool that allows you to select clips and snap away.

_ It has a built in Blog editor so I can post to my blog using my browser

_A drag and drop web clipboard manager

_Media bar that streams media from sites like Flickr, Digg, Youtube, your Facebook friends

_A sidebar with all your updated feeds and social networking sites

_side bar listing all your accounts and services that you can click on an automatically be logged into

So if you haven’t tried it yet..dammit try it! I still use Firefox and I probably always will but I love me some Flock now and then.. it’s like my secret little drug…well maybe not that dramatic no..but it’s damn good? I love their My world page it shows me all my updates from my social networking sites. It’s nifty. (see screenshot)

Twitter App Crazy

// August 15th, 2008 // 4 Comments » // Apple, Applications, Blogging, Chat, Desktop Icons, For Geeks, Freeware, Geeks, Graphics, I recommend, Icons, Ipod, Twitter, Useful, web tools

Here are some of the most popular Twitter apps and tools. I love my twitter. I like twitter because I can keep in touch with all my friends and family all at once and I don’t have to send out 10 text messages a day, I can send out one or two twitter posts and I’m good to go. :) Everyone who says I never call them or write them has now heard from me and everyone is happy…including me. I Love it. Here’s a whole list of Mobile Twitter apps..@ Mashable.com

h1 Twit Bin

Why go to Twitter when Twitter can come to you? Twitbin’s a Firefox extension that nestles all your friends’ tweets into a sidebar. It’s configurable too, and the tiny ad at the bottom of the sidebar is something I can live with. BTW, it works just as well in Flock.

h1 TwittyTunes

If you want to share what you’re listening to with the ease of Twitter, this is the browser plugin for you. It’s a sibling of the popular FoxyTunes extension, and supports dozens of players. So if you’re signed in to your Last.fm player, Twitty Tunes will let your Twitter friends know what you’re listening to. There’s even a social network devoted to the most recent TwittyTunes shout-outs, called Foxy Tunes Twitter DJ.

h1 Twitterment

This one appeals to the statisticians and the buzz crawlers. This charts the ‘zeitgeist’ of what’s being Tweeted about across the globe. You can even see comparisons of one key phrase versus another, and what day of the week key terms pop up most frequently. For instance, here’s one that compares beer and sex. Not surprisingly, beer starts getting popular around Friday.

h1 Flotzam

Flotzam started life as Flitterbook, a showcase mash-up of Flickr, Facebook and Twitter data – developed by Karsten Januszewski and Tim Aidlin for MIX07. It’s available only to PC users as a downloadable .exe or as a screensaver, but it’s well worth having a nose around. For Mac OS X users, check out some of the dashboard widgets collected in the Twitter Fan Wiki.

h1 GPS Twit – update Twitter with your location for iPhone and Windows Mobile.

h1 Twitter-Sync (Yahoo Messenger Plugin) – Keeps your Yahoo! Messenger status and Twitter in synchronization. Update your Yahoo! Status to create a new tweet. Your new tweets update your Yahoo! status. Also keeps track of your twitter friends from the main messenger window with alerts, pop-ups + more…

h1 Twit4Live — A Messenger Plus! Live Script that adds twitter interaction to Windows Live Messenger

h1 Twitter Desktop – A How-To for making TwitterVision your desktop background, watch live tweets while working.(not an app)

h1 MadTwitter — a clon of Twitterrific for Windows which doesn’t require .NET — by Sacha Fuentes

Web 2.0 and grudge free buttons generator!

Make a link button in a snap. It’s Free, easy and the end result looks really nice. I use this when customers call in and need a custom button made instead of doing it in Photoshop which I could do but this is so much faster. Very cool.

    100 Oldest .COM domain names

    // August 11th, 2008 // No Comments » // Domain Names, For Geeks, Geeks

I used to work for Mydomain.com and now I work for another hosting company. I spend a portion of my day registering domain names so I found this pretty interesting but the rest of you..you might find it just plan geeky..sorry.

A lot of these domain no longer have active website’s. People would kill to own a 2-3 letter domain name nowadays. Which is close to impossible unless you have cash and a lot of it.

    Just a few…
